Stronger Than Your Excuses

So I was thinking about these 4 words…

MONEY – TIME – ENERGY – PROCRASTINATION

And I was wondering – Which do you think is your biggest nemesis when it comes to looking after yourself?

The way I see it, being a personal trainer and nutrition coach committed to helping people go beyond their excuses, is this –

Lack of money is not a good enough excuse to avoid investing in things that could help us.

Think of something you said you couldn’t afford to have/do that you now have/did. The fact is, we will always find a way to afford the things that matter most to us.

Lack of time is not a good enough excuse to avoid doing things we know we need to do.

Can you think of a time you bounded out of bed or stayed up stupidly late because you HAD to get something done? Can you imagine how motivated you would be to meet me somewhere for a workout in the early and cold hours of the morning if I said I would give you a million dollars once you got there?

Lack of energy is not a good enough excuse to sit on the couch drinking a beer when your fitness is shit, or get takeaway because you couldn’t be f’ed going home to cook even though this habit has made you overweight.

You’re right! It takes mental and physical energy from us to look after ourselves. It’s easier to be lazy or not give a shit. But it ultimately gives us back energy 2-10 fold when we invest energy in ourselves. And our kids demand so much energy from us and a long life to look out for them, that we need to maintain/build our energy.

Procrastination is not a good enough excuse for inaction NOW!

I’ll quit the ciggies at New Years while continually to poison your body beyond repair for another few months. I’ll eat healthy next week while putting on another KG that will be tough to get off. I’ll do more to look after my back and bad knees next month while getting closer and closer to irreparable damage. I’ll start next week, month, year…

I now truly believe that motivation is temporary but a just f’ing do it SuperDad attitude is necessary! We can either make time to look after ourselves, or make time for injury and illness in the future.

So I think we should all have the balls to say to ourselves firmly and regularly

ENOUGH WITH MY F’ING EXCUSES!!!

We need to stop giving our excuses power over us.

We need to take control of the chitter chatter of negativity, put downs, and bad behaviour in our head.

Because we are not doing our kids, our partner or ourselves any justice by letting our excuses win.

We are that silent voice we hear in our quiet times telling us we matter, we care, we are going to achieve long term change and overcome our demons.

WE MUST DARE TO SIT IN SILENCE LONG ENOUGH, THEN GET UP QUICK SMART AND TAKE MASSIVE ACTION ON OUR DAILY RESOLUTIONS.

WE MUST NOT LET OUR EXCUSES WIN!

What do you think?

MONEY – TIME – ENERGY – PROCRASTINATION

Which one wins for you?
